I created this piece to order for the young girl next door. She wanted a picture to give as a gift for her best friend's upcoming birthday. Of course I was not going to charge her for it, but she insisted she pay something...so we struck a bartering deal...one picture for the equivalent in babysitting!! I think I am the one who lucked out in this deal. It is a "reverse" stained glass, which is to say, I formed the words by surrounding it with glass instead of forming the letters in glass. It was fairly difficult, and though I really do like the result I think next time I will do everything in glass as usual. So, if I ever become famous for one reason or another this piece will be worth a lot since it is the only one I will ever do like it.

This piece was commissioned for a dining room widow by a dear lady I met at the art show. It was a piece I originally thought would be relatively easy, but turned out to be quite an ordeal. In fact, I would have to say it was harder to conceptualize than I had ever imagined it would be, and was more than a sufficient challenge. I do like to work on pieces when I am given a picture, or in this case fabric, to replicate because it takes me outside the ordinary and forces me to work a piece that otherwise I would never even consider.

This piece was inspired by one of my favorite poems. I love nature and being outdoors. Sitting on a hill with the wind bending the grass and wildflowers around me while overlooking the sea would be a perfect afternoon. I often think of this poem in the spring when my children bring me flowers picked from the garden or hillside.
