May Show

I have had so many things to do as of late that I have not been able to feel that I have been successful in any one area. In fact, I have wanted to throw up my hands and quit it all. What keeps me holding on, and specifically what keeps me holding on to this art, are the lives affected. My blood, (literally thanks to the sharp glass) sweat and tears go into every piece and as I work I think of what the money will go to do. $30 is not a lot to you and I. We can in fact, easily part with $30 just for a pretty picture, but to so many around the world that is one third their yearly income. Although Heart Song Studio has given only a little, tiny amount I feel so accomplished each time I work on a new piece knowing that because of me someone somewhere will have something that would not have had if I had quit.

May Show

I have been working toward the art show in May which is to be held in Nappanee, Indiana. Although my original goal was 30 pieces I am going to have to be satisfied with taking only 24 as time has simply run out. I will show 2 of my older pieces that have not sold yet, but everything else was created for this show. I was in a spring mood with the new weather that is upon us and created a lot of butterflies, daisies and tulips. I did venture out a little with a fleur de lis and another abstract/geometric in red.

Tulips in a Garden 8" x 10"- $75.00
Simple Daisy 6' x 5"- $35.00 SOLD
Daisy in gold ornate frame 6' x 5"- $35.00
The Burning Bush 5" x 7"-$30.00 SOLD
Butterfly Frolic ( 8" x 10"- $75.00 SOLD

What Does Your Purchase Support?

Up until this point, if you have purchased art from Heart Song Studio all the proceeds have gone to fund various projects in the area of Perm, Russia which lies on the edge of Siberia. We have helped to build rooms, buy winter coats, hats, scarves, mittens and gloves, socks and shoes. We have also sent many blankets for children in orphanages, as well as taken large amounts of hygiene items for those children living on the streets of Perm. We have given large amounts of money to native Russians with whom we have built a relationship, so they can continue to work daily with the children living on the streets, orphanages or who live at home, but in extreme meager conditions. We will continue to work with the people in Russia and will update you on the various projects in which we take part. As of this summer, proceeds from art purchased through Heart Song Studio will begin to support various projects in the Jinja region of Uganda as well as Buvama Island in Uganda which is an island in Lake Victoria. Our first purchase looks to be a new Mac computer as requested by workers who are a part of community development in the area. They will use this computer in one of the small schools of development which is helping bring clean water to the community as well as provide basic health care for pregnant women and newborns.

The News

So, as I told you in an earlier post we were highlighted on the local news. It was a very exciting time and quite fun to do. The camera man and reporter came to our home and filmed a small segment for the morning news. To view this clip click below:

The Sunflower

The Sunflower in clear

$30.00 SOLD

This piece was created by my 11 year old son who has taken to stained glass in a big way. It is his first piece, and although I have encouraged him to keep his original piece, he wants to put it up for sell and use his talents to help others. He too will donate all the proceeds from his art to the many projects we endeavor to support through Heart Song Studio.
